Lizzo
Truth Hurts, but so do feelings. As rapper Lizzo continues to grow her fanbase with empowering songs and exuberant performances that exude confidence, she has taken the opportunity to use her spotlight for purposes beyond music. Recently, Lizzo has taken to social media to discuss the mental health struggles that she has been dealing with for quite some time. She admits that “The day I released ‘Truth Hurts’ was probably one of the darkest days I’ve had ever in my career. I remember thinking, ‘If I quit music now, nobody would notice. This is my best song ever, and nobody cares.’” Proving the strength and span of depression, Lizzo admitted that her mental health struggles did not disappear as her music rose in popularity. In the midst of her peak, she captioned an Instagram post with the statement: “I’m depressed and there’s no one I can talk to because there’s nothing anyone can do about it. Life hurts.”
Through her openness with her fans, Lizzo reveals that while the truth can hurt, she uses these difficult moments as an opportunity to refocus herself. Her most recent Instagram posts offer advice and guidance to her fanbase, with captions such as, “I’ve used sadness so constructively in the last two years. After working on being emotionally honest, I’ve used sadness as a tool for gratitude. It’s humbling and I’m grateful that I’m able to feel these emotions, because I know that because of the sadness, I’m gonna be able to feel joy.” Lizzo continues to empower her fans, both through her inspiring lyrics and continuous honesty. Being open about her struggles and imperfections just proves that Lizzo is, and always will be, 100% that b*tch.
