Self-Expression Sunday #16

There are many ways to express yourself in this world—through art, dance, writing, singing, and more. For me, it would definitely have to be listening to music and crocheting. I know it might sound like an odd mix, but I find that listening to music while crocheting brings a peaceful calm to my daily life.

I grew up listening to all sorts of different music: Tejano, Reggaeton, Pop, R&B—the list goes on. Occasionally, I like to listen to older music for the nostalgic feelings and memories. Now I listen to a lot of Taylor Swift. I love music that tells a story—music you can relate to and picture in your head. I’ve always felt like her music has done this for me, especially Folklore and Evermore.

In addition to music, I love to crochet when I have the time. I started a little over a year ago, and I’ve definitely grown with the hobby. I crochet for fun and love showing my family the latest additions to my collection. I began by making plushies, but now I’m working on reusable bags and purses, which is quite different from the stuffed animals I’m used to creating.

Self-expression is such an important part of life, and perhaps you can relate to finding peace in listening to music or creating something with your hands. All forms of self-expression are creative and unique in their own way, and I hope you have the courage to express yourself in whatever way feels most natural to you.
